I have near finished my 53 G9 had the Dynamo rewound for12volts,fitted DVR 2 reg, and have been
Trying to locate a battery to go in a dummy Lucas box,
After E/mailing helpliner a few times he suggested a 12 volt alarm battery, these are stocked by
Screwfix @ £19-03,but I checked out my local Denmans Electrical suppliers they have country wide
Outlets, the same battery £14-40, 12volt 7 Amp hour should be ok.result.

Hi Bitza,

I would suggest avoiding alarm type batteries as they are designed for a very different application to a (perhaps) poorly regulated, high vibration setup like on an old bike. The plates and connections inside are generally not so robust and may quickly break under all the vibrations. They're intended for trickle charging, low discharge applications.

Are good option is a pair of Cyclon type batteries - two 6v units connected in series.
