Seat Restoration

Post by One pot »

I have just had my AJS 18S seat returned from R K Leightons.

The sevice from Andrew was excellent with calls to update on progress.

The seat has put the finishing touch to my bike and I am more than happy to recommend them.

Best seats that I have ever bought. Superb quality and so helpful.
A bit of a delay due to his supplier of seat foams mucking him about, but always kept informed and well worth the wait. :D

I too cannot recommend Andrew at R K Leighton enough. I had a bit of trouble getting a seat to fit my G15CS (odd rear tank mount meant standard seat would not fit) Andrew sent me a seat base and foam, without payment being sent, for me to alter to fit.
I modified the base and foam then sent it back and Andrew worked his magic.

The quality and workmanship is second to NONE!

For those in the Eastern counties I can thoroughly recommend David Preston of Trim-fix for an excellent job when renovating a seat.

He is an "old school" upholsterer who works on everything from bike seats through to barbers chairs but really does know his stuff and the importance of both looking right and being comfortable. He is also a keen motorcyclist with both classic and modern bikes.

He has renovated six of my dual seats (AJS, Ariel, Matchless & Royal Enfield) and has provided a photographic record of all work carried out. He will use traditional materials or modern memory foams to your specification and waterproof membranes over the foam where the cover needs a lot of stitching. He can also restore the bases and powder coat.

He can be contacted at:

David Preston
Trim-Fix
20 Stephenson Road
St Ives
Cambridgeshire
PE27 3WJ
01480 492092

I have no connection with either David or Trim-Fix other than receiving an exceptionally high service.

For anyone in France I would highly recommend the Sellerie Briant, ZA les Epinettes, 530 route de Bramafan, 73230 Barby
Phone is: 06 08 90 37 01 and email: jmbsellerie@gmail.com.
I sent them two seats to redo, one for my Pan European and the other for a T140 that I was going to sell. The seat was so good that I still have the bike. They stick to their quotes, don't know how the prices compare with the UK, and often do 'that little bit more'.
If you are riding by they will redo a seat in a couple of hours while you wait.
