Beware old tyres!

just had a look at the tyres on the g3ls i got yesterday, the valves look very new however both the tyres are out the ark ! just have to decide which to fit, i have used Mitas in the past with good results, would you think 3.50" at both ends would be ok ?

Mine used to be a 4.10" x 19" rear and 3.25" x 19" front. Now they are 3.50" rear (Avon Safety Mileage ) and 3.25" front (Avon Speedmaster). The SM @ 3.50" is rated the same as a 4.10" Roadrunner, I believe. Don't really know about the rating of Mitas tyres, though.

You might have to let the air out to get the wheel in between the mudguard studs for the front wheel.

By the way, tyre pressures are given in the manual at 18psi front and 22psi rear for a single rider. This is no longer the case with modern tyres, as the compounds have changed and are generally softer. The recommended pressures have been increased by 8lb or so. The fitter will inform you of the correct pressures for the chosen make.

This item got be thinking about shelf life. Does Kevlar have a shelf life I wonder? Just a thought.

i will be fitting them so i will heed your advice and stick a bit extra in, don`t you change your own tyres ?

No I don't change them personally as it's too much fuss at my age! Without proper levers there's always the chance of pinching the inner tube, so I go to a specialist motorcycle tyre company near here. Try 26/28psi F/R and see how it handles.

That's because you don't weigh bugger all! If I was to run at those pressures the tyre would be flat, only at the bottom though!
