My advice for speedo cables, despite the WD instruction book, would be to pull the inner cable out when you first fit the cable, take a pinch of ordinary grease and push the cable into the outer whilst holding it between the greasy finger and thumb. when you get to the last 18 inches (45cms) stop greasing it. What has already been dragged into the outer will happily grease the last section. This will ensure nothing is pumped into speedo by archimedes screw action. Leave it alone after that. As Dudley says never oil the cable.

Make a wrap round funnel out of blu-tack and pour some 3 in 1 down.
