Was the WW2 Army Mechanical Training School G3L instruction lecture written by you Rob? ( ;) )

NAMING OF PARTS

Today, today we have naming of parts. Yesterday,
Yesterday we had daily cleaning. And on Friday,
On Friday after riding we shall have what to do after riding.
But today, today we have naming of parts.

These are the latest telescopic front forks.
We call them teledraulic front forks. They provide
Better roadholding and comfort, but which in your case
You have not got.

These are the rear spring units
With springs inside and clevis ends.
This is the upper clevis and this is the lower clevis.
We call them the upper and lower clevises
And they are the latest suspension, which in your case
You have not got.

And this is the slow running screw. And this
Is the pilot jet screw, whose use you will see
When you are given your machines.
And this is the leak-free chaincase, which in your case
You have not got.

This is the ignition lever, which is retarded for starting
With an easy flick of the thumb.
You can do it quite easily
With an easy flick of your thumb.
The next machines will be automatic, but which for today
You have not got.

And this is the decompressor. It eases turning over
The engine for starting. As you see
We can turn it easily when decompressed before starting.
We call this easing the engine before starting.
Some machines will have an electric starter, but which today
You have not got.

Tomorrow will be called starting the engine, when we will
Be starting the engine. It will be perfectly easy if you follow
The procedures for starting the engine
And have the savvy to learn, which in your case
You have not got.

So to-day we had naming of parts.

No, Rob. It was inspired by 'Naming of Parts' by Henry Reed (1914 - 1986) who suffered endless boring hours of rifle care lectures by monosyllabic sergeants, and I couldn't resist re-writing it a couple of years ago as if it was a training course for G3L Despatch Riders and army mechanics.
Your post (and mine and others when endeavouring to post an unambiguous reply) just triggered my memory!
