of course it is the inlet that's has been touching , well spotted
valve timing is my bet as the problem , only one tooth out could cause the problem

Well thank you for all the info. Yes it was the black one he had with him in Poland. Will check the timing on those camshafts and measure the piston dimensions. Sorry I thought it was the exhaust valve but it is indeed the inlet. What a german eye can see(-; Thanks for all the hints, will check it asap!

What if his timing pinion is not 100% correct into his crankshaft? Is this a possibility?

The timing pinion is keyed onto the timing side axle.

just check that the dot is vertical at TDC . its keyed so should be

not matchless , but interesting info on average clearance if you are worried and how to measure

I'm glad we did not find such horrible things Neville! I said it wrong, what is the timing side axle is slightly pressed wrong in the crankshaft? Need to study on my technical english!

I would just slip the timing one tooth if there is nothing else wrong
you probably will never tell the difference, but do the other checks first and replace the inlet valve if its not seating
its very easy on a angled valve to bend it as the pictures show

SPRIDS, re your pic. ;) How does a valve get bent in that area? Would be in the guide surely :)
