In days of old if I had offered 10 bob for the headlight switch I would have been told " that's OK but for that you must take away the rest of the wreck"

I wouldn't call that cheap considering the state it was in..

Depends on whether you can salvage the reg number Paul, bike's not too bad, I restored a G5 in the late 70's that was worse.

I thought it was pretty cheap! The (hard to find) tinware looks all there, the rust looks to be mostly surface so I guess it'll restore pretty well back to original spec. Proper "original" G2's must be rare these days.

Main problem is the engine's been dismantled. The original crank & flywheels seem to be MIA, for example. Cast-iron flywheels are hard to find. Looks like the buyer got a complete spare engine though...

Definitely a labour of love to restore that though, not financially viable as a re-saleable project to make a profit on as lightweights for some unknown reason don't YET command the price I think they deserve

You're right there, Paul! No-one's going to make money on a restoration like that.
Still, it should be a very nice bike when it's finished - especially with the original reg.

Nope. Cosmetic restoration and scouring autojumbles for bits doesn't appeal to me. I don't have the patience for anything that can't be completed in a weekend.
