Re: Andrew Engineering replacement wheel bearings.

Hi, I posted this topic some while ago. As an update I fitted new bearings, which turned out be be easy. I have now come to using the assembly in a wheel. However, when I came to fitting a new nut on the threaded end of the shaft it would not start, the one that came with the shaft fits fine screwing on and off easily but the new one would not screw on. I have tried 3 different new nuts, including one from the club spares scheme and one from ACME stainless. I am wondering if the cassette bearing system used a slightly different thread and if other users of these shaft have any experience of this problem. I have counted the threads on the shaft as 1/2" 26 TPI and it looks good condition, the nuts I have tried are part number 000001. Thanks, LynP

Thread problem solved. Ran a 1/2" 26TPI Cycle tap down the nuts today to make sure the threads were cut full depth and now all OK.
