Re: Engine oil
Hi Ian. I was searching the archive for a particular article on oil only to find that you started a thread with the very same question on here exactly 3 years ago to the day! Nothing's changed.
See your original post and several replies here.......

We can have a good chat about oil when you come to club night in December.

Re: Engine oil
i use straight 50 grade oil , something like comma classic oil or westway are what i have been using over last few years .
http://www.ebaystores.co.uk/Westway-Lubricants-Shop
i did run some 30 grade for a bit when running engine in but its gets a bit like piddle in summer months so i have now opted for sae50 and its fine for all my riding .
once the salt/grit starts going on the roads i stop riding my ajs on the roads as i dont want to mess it up , i have ridden it in winter months before but the salt deposits are allways somewhere around and get onto the alloy parts etc and id rather not have that , so away it goes for winter although i regularly run it up and ride it round my garden to keep the oil running around inside it .

Re: Engine oil
In the G80 use straight 40 in Winter or 50 in Summer, in the G9 with ‘shell' big ends use 20/50. Originally Duckhams 20/50 was designed for air cooled motorcycles with shell bearings.
