Today's Bo-Peep Hillclimb
A VMCC 'Regularity' event which consists of a timed first 'marker' run for nearly half a mile from the bottom to top of the Sussex South Downs (near Lewes) on a closed (dead end) public lane. The event has run for around 100 years, previously also with cars with drivers including Tommy Sopwith, Stirling Moss, Fangio, Brabham..............Motorbikes only now.
The approach to the start at the base of the hill:
Near the top of the closed road (nobody allowed on the 'course' whilst bikes ascending):
The 'Start' timing crew - hardwired to the 'Finish' crew on the windswept hilltop:
After the first timed 'marker' run three further runs are made and penalty points incurred for the difference in ascent time to that of the first 'marker' run.
A beautifully patina'd 1930 998cc s/v Ajay R2 outfit competed:
Julie (of Elk Promotions bike shows and autojumbles) went well on her Velo:
and Thrifty Peter ('g80csp11') has run his '46 G80 for maybe the past ten of these hill climbs:
Before the climb there's an obstacle trial and Sussex team have won the award for the past seven years. No official results yet but it seems the two Sussex teams 'cleaned' that part so fingers crossed for another win. Sadly no photos as I couldn't drag them all away at the same time from the top of the hill, the burger van or from the 'al fresco' hedge w.c
Peter Morris took some so maybe he'll put them on here.

Nice photos. I used to go down to Hailsham/Lewes area regularly until last year. It's a shame that Wesson's café closed.
