My buddies bike...

Post by cfaber »

So for kicks I thought I'd start a thread for posting images and stories around (not yours) but your friends motorcycles. In this case I'll get it started. Here's an early HRD which has been converted to duel oil pump, electric start touring machine. He built this up from parts that his brother in the old country collected as part of his business (building bikes) Anyways, it was neat to see especially since he had just finished rebuilding it (again) and of course it was leaking oil (as it should)

I think pictures like this should be censored. It's just pure sex on wheels. ;)

At the Laughton Vintage Vehicle Show, Handy Andy (always keen on a bargain), returned from the autojumble to the Sussex section corral with a 20 quid electric bike.
Just one problem; it was missing its 24v battery. How we laughed.

But he had an idea........ as you do after a few beers, when egged on by chums.
"My campervan has two 12v batteries, Hmmm, what if...........?"
(another beer),.....spanners, a couple of bungees, bit of wire and gaffer tape..........

It worked, and Andy had the last laugh.

My mate Michael puts his James to good use, as a feature in his Antiques shop window, in Skibbereen, Co Cork,

That's a neat little machine. I bet it sounds like a chainsaw =)

So as a result of the electric conversion on the HRD, my buddy can't roll the bike backwards when it's in gear anymore. Has something to do with how the electric starter engages the kick start gear on a sprag clutch

I like Cjays photo of the James, I have an earlier model of this bike, 98cc, 35mph, a claimed 144mpg, rigid rear end and girder forks, with such a lightweight bike you really have to hang on going over potholes. Great fun, I use it regularly and yes it does sound a bit like a big chainsaw.

  • Morad Alloy Rims with Stainless Spokes and Nipples.
