Ardingly show Part 2.
Peter Morris had booked in his G15 but on Friday, 100 yds from home the primary chain broke, breaking the engine drive sprocket in half and smashing a hole in the chaincase. There's only a single row primary chain, not a duplex on those 750cc beasts which seems poor design.
So he took along his gorgeous G3C
You could have your bike dyno tested at 20 quid a pop...
Couple more coming.....

Yes, but it could have been worse Rob, I have never heard of an engine sprocket breaking before.ajscomboman wrote:It'll polish out sir! That is nasty and very unfortunate, never seen it happen quite that badly.

Neither have I, and normally with a chain break you get a cracked case as opposed to a full on explosion! Real bad luck.Peter Morris wrote:Yes, but it could have been worse Rob, I have never heard of an engine sprocket breaking before.ajscomboman wrote:It'll polish out sir! Hi
That's bad luck, but on the bright side not too difficult to rectify.
Did the chain actually break or the split link come apart?
Any chance you could post some good photos of the break surfaces of the sprocket? How're the crank shaft keyways?
Regards Mick

Not sure why, but the ends of the split link seem to have disappeared, the grooves for the horseshoe/spring are no longer there. Sprocket keyway is fine. I'll pop out and get some pics of the sprocket surfaces in a while.

The sprocket, chain and link came with the bike so I'm not sure where they came from, but they don't have 'made in China' written on them! 😂
