Whilst looking for something else (an electric conversion kit for the Honda Cub ) I came across this interesting (rainy day) article in the link below which also has a link to a chap who built one from scratch around 2007 just from drawings. I hadn't seen it before........

It's a 1936 model 20 AJS. I am sure one of my prewar pages in Jampot featured this first AJS model 20. Here's the sales cat.

Re: 1936 AJS V4 racer/engine
To think - this was on offer for less than £95
Were they too expensive to manufacture or sell?
How did they measure up to the HRD and Brough offerings performance wise?
Regards Mick

Ill never forget Sammy Miller riding the V4 at the Woolwich Arsenal; he even got the front wheel slightly off the ground and the sound was fantastic.

It was a rare treat John. Sometime later I was at his museum and he had it outside. A visitor asked him if he would run it up to which he replied: "Not unless someone underwrites ten grand for an engine rebuild".56G80S wrote:Ill never forget Sammy Miller riding the V4 at the Woolwich Arsenal; he even got the front wheel slightly off the ground and the sound was fantastic.
