Octopus test bench

Post by DM2 »

I wanted something to be able to test my own dynamo's and mag's on, picked this up cheap a while back.
Did some minor repairs to it last year and it now works well.

Brilliant. I always get a kick out of seeing the lucas one that Tony Cooper has. Came from the factory when it shut down.

Brought the machine back home today and checked out a mag, starts sparking a 150rpm but has a erratic spark with excesive sparking at the points, then loses spark completely at 1400rpm. Will have to fit a new condenser and see if that cures it.

And have another little project on the go, a home made pulse magnetiser made from a spot welder transformer cut down.

Will be charging a capacitor up to 440 volts which should give me a 170A pulse through the coil.

Lovely toys. I had the chance to have an old Crypton analyser but found some parts of it's system did not work so I'm afraid that it was scrapped.Pity
