Answer: Bob McIntyre on a Gilera. He won at an average speed of 94.99mph.

2/ In the 1969 film Easy Rider, what is the name of the character played by Peter Fonda?
Answer: Captain America

3/ Joey Dunlop almost didn't make it to the 1985 TT. Why?
Answer: Joey used to hitch a ride on his friend's fishing boat, the MFV Tornamona across to the Isle of Man. On May 23 May 1985 he departed from the County Down port of Strangford with his Rothmans Honda race bikes and equipment for the TT Races. It was a particularly hostile night and Tornamona ran onto St. Patrick's Rock where her rudder jammed and was destroyed. After drifting free she sank in calmer waters inshore. All aboard were rescued by the Portaferry Lifeboat. Divers recovered the bikes upon which Joey won the Formula One, Junior and Senior TT races.

Bill was complying with Yamaha team orders that Phil Read must be the winning rider and that Bill would win the 250 race. He came 2nd to Read but did win the 250 race as ordained in spite of Phil Read ignoring team orders and fighting Bill Ivy throughout the race. Yamaha were furious and never offered Phil Read another ride.

Answer: Lynne Annette Ripley or ‘Twinkle'. She retired in 1966 at the age of 18

13/ The first motorcycle was created by whom?
Answer: Gottlieb Daimler in 1885. Also in 1885, but unknown to Daimler, only sixty miles away in Mannheim, Karl Benz built the first true automobile using an integral design for a motorized vehicle with one of his own engines. He was granted a patent for his motorwagen on January 29, 1886.

15/ When AMC were designing the P10 engine a reed valve was proposed as a crankcase breather. Why was this idea rejected?
Answer: In 1965 when AMC chief designer Horace Watson and ex-Velocette engineer Charles Udall presented the 800cc twin prototype it was rejected by the embarrassed directors because on turning over the engine before starting it up the reed valve made a noise like a fart.
