Nice one. Nothing wrong with a bodge, Andrew. Some of my longest lasting mods have been bodges.
I recall that several years ago the same pressure plate thread stripped on a pal's bike out on a trip.
At the roadside I removed the adjuster screw locknut and refitted it (the locknut) to the adjuster screw on the inside of the pressure plate. I don't remember having to do anything else but it certainly worked a treat and got him home.
(I rode back from the Milan International Jampot with my clutch lever held on with cable ties).
my days working in a BMW garage we used to call a bodge an idea in action Sometimes they worked :D

One day repairing( bodging ) a hinge on the back door and my mother commented " you have your Grandfather's ability to make a good bodge " that was 30 years ago and the door hinge is still held on with match sticks and Araldite. Must mend it properly one day.
