Re: Magneto needs reconditioning - AJS 16M
I may have got lucky with decent amounts of residual magnetism in the bodies but I have successfully rebuilt my N1 and NR1 with a rewound armature on the N1 and a new NR1 armature (the kits with everything you need). I'm no expert but I didn't find them hard to work on. Main problem with the NR1 was getting all the rust off the face of the shoe that holds the field coils in. Capacitor obviously needs to be sorted always. Lovely spark on both of them and the NR1 is still running its original ‘54 HT lead and cap (and plug ‘til I broke it!) NGK iridium plug is essential in my view for first/second time starting.
