Hi

If the club can't help Burlen, (Amal), will sell you the one you need:

Hello Mick
Thanks for taking the time.
Burlen seem to list all parts except the body. I don't think they sell a complete carb. I have E-mailed them for advice.

They come up on ebay occasionally. You might fit a 389 Monobloc as fitted (and jetted ) same as 1955 18S. You could then take your time finding the correct carb/body if you were bothered about originality. Personally I'd sooner have the 389 Monobloc anyday. :D

Hi Ron

If you click view in the link I posted and then the top item in the list that comes up you will see they have stock of the current alternative, 289B/1AK

Thank you Mick, As you said, hidden in plain sight! but currently out of stock.
Dave the monoblock you suggested has a bore of 1" 5/32. My old unit is 1" 3/32 do you think this would matter!
thanks for your advice

Burlen sell the 289B/1AK as a substitute for the 89B/1AK - the 289B has internal air hole, whereas the 89B had four external holes in the body.
The bore is correct for the machine but does not preserve exact originality.
I have an 289B on my '49 G80, but have constant starting problems now!

You could adjust the bore size by flaring the carb spacer slightly to suit the new carb. It's only a fraction.

Thanks guys. Think I will go for a new monoblock for reliability. Appreciate all your responses.
