Wheel bearings.
Is there anything awkward in removing the wheel bearings on a 1938 Silver Streak please?

Re: Wheel bearings.
Just follow workshop manual instructions, make a note of the order taken apart so you can put it all back correctly.
Tapered bearings are adjustable, so unless you know the bearings are rusty or well worn, adjust play. Parts are not easy to find.

Hi Rob, I've removed the lock ring, the adjusting ring, the dished plate & the felt washer but the plain plate doesn't want to come out. Do you have any advise please?

Re: Wheel bearings.
They will get stuck, they need to lift up flat. Try using a couple of sewing needles or pins to loosen any suction, then gently lift up flat. Or see if it will just drop out as stated in W/Shop manual. The WD Matchless manual will give you clues, Plus the AJS workshop manual page below.ianw1 wrote:Hi Rob, I've removed the lock ring, the adjusting ring, the dished plate & the felt washer but the plain plate doesn't want to come out. Thank you yet again Rob. The Matchless manual gives a great instruction, more detailed than the AJS manual.
