I've just seen an advert for a 1960 Matchless G12A. I've never come across the 'A' before; what does it mean? I first thought Alternator, but the advert also refers to a refurbished magneto, and as far as I can make out from the image it has a dynamo. Was the 'A' the Matchless equivalent of an AJS Deluxe?
I'm not planning on buying it, I'm just curious.
Cheers,
Malc

Re: G12A
Perhaps the advertiser thinks it's a G12 A cos it says so on the frame number.

True, but I'm almost 100% certain that there's a dynamo on there. Unfortunately the only photo is of the RH side, so no chaincase on view, but it certainly looks like the dynamo end on my 650.
