Brexit and green cards and RH insurance

Post by clive »

It may be a while yet before we can travel to the Continent but Emma Airey from RH Insurance has been in touch with me to bring to our attention their website information on Green Cards. There are a number of drop downs which answer questions but a quick check established that we will need to carry a Green Card. In fact you will need both the green card and your insurance document and if you are using a trailer in some EU states you will need a green card for that too.
Key messages from Emma are to allow 48 hours if requesting via email and up to 2 weeks if via post. (the Green card needs to be hard copy so you will have to print at home if you get it emailed, but it can be black ink on white paper); and RH, unlike the majority of its competitors, doesn't charge a single penny in policy admin fees – and this includes Green Cards.

Just a quick note to say THANK YOU, Clive, for sharing this useful information on behalf of RH.

As always, I'm here to assist with any motorcycle (or other vehicle) insurance related query.

In the meantime, I hope you all have a super weekend and manage to make the most of the dry/sunny weather (well... it's lovely here in Essex today!).

And whilst on the subject of forbidden lands.........

Provided that you have a c/card type licence (i.e. not the paper one) you won't need a International Driving Permit within the E.U.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/driving-in- ... ng-permits

and when your EHIC health card expires you can get its direct replacement, a GHIC free of charge.
