AJS TWIN CRANKCASE BREATHER

Post by Petesajs »

Can anyone help with the correct assembly order for the spring & flap in the breather assy? The diagram in the service book is not very clear.

Thanks everyone.

Personally I cannot help but logically the spring has to be overcome to allow pressure out of the crankcase on a firing stroke, someone will know.

Breather bits.jpg
It goes (if we're talking the bits in the pic), left to right:
Big hollow bolt into crank
Disc
Spring
Nut with hole through it into female thread on big bolt

The disc has to vent crankcase pressure, so has to open against the spring as the pistons come down, as Clive says.
