Hi Christian,
Thought I could help by having a looksee at my barrels.
But.....
On my bike - no letters.
500 - 024206
500 - 39 8 E1
350 (46) - 024078
Perhaps someone else can corroborate your reference.
Alternately the exhaust diameter is a larger bore on the 500, unless of course someone has modified a 350 head to fit?

Christian,
why not pour oil or another suitable liquid into the cylinder and measure the amount poured in?
Just an idea!

Just stand back and look at it, sighting through the fins. If the cylinder looks rather anorexic on the large crankcase then it is a 350. Also, measure the outside diameter below the fins. Is there enough metal to allow an 82.5mm bore? If so, its a 500; if it measures less than 80mm its a 350. Some 500 barrels have a vertical rib between the fins and/or cutaways front or rear to clear the magneto.

Does anyone out there know where to get hold of a full loop crash bar fit a Model 31. Or perhaps someone can still make them. Please let me know if you can help. Preferably stainless.
