Brooklands Special 1935

Post by Marco Gallo. »

Hello, I can buy a Matchless Brooklands Special 1935. It has a twinport engine (nr 36 G3 (or G8) 1845)with dubble sweptback fishtailpipes. I cannot find the chassisnr. and there are no papers at all. The bike is made for circuit racing, but can I ride on the legal roads(e.g. no lamps, numberplate or mirrors)? Can anybody tell me more about this special?. The price is 4.500 pounds ono.and the bike is in excellent condition. Thanks if you can help me. Marco Gallo

Hate to be the bearer of bad news Marco but you describe the standard 1936 Matchless Clubman road bike but minus all it's road equipment. Here in Australia we would call it a paddock bike. The Clubman was the bottom of the range 500cc model and came as standard with a two port head and upswept pipes. The 1935 Matchless range featured sloping engines and no 1935 Matchless had an engine number beginning with a 'G'. The G series started in 1936. Still nice to own, but far too dear at the price you quote. Cheers BOB
