Fitting new timing side axle

Post by Catman »

Has anybody fitted a new timing side axle ?
The workshop manuals simply say press in with the oil holes lined up but as the position affects the valve timing it sounds a bit of an over simplification !
I would appreciate any tips.
I see in one workshop manual that there was a special tool to ensure accurate location but I don't suppose there are any of these tools in circulation nowadays ?
I would gladly buy one or hire one !
I am stuck to continue with rebuilding my flywheel until I can feel more sure about ending up with the timing pinion in the right position on its key to ensure accurate valve timing !

Patience is a vitrue, something that judging by your replies you don't appear to have!
