Burman gearbox B52
Hi, I am not able to pull away in 1st gear. The gear pedal selects 1st but it gently grinds when I begin to release the clutch, but bike won't move. All other gears ok. Then I have to use a heavy foot to get it out of 1st gear. On the layshaft the 1st gear is recessed on one side. It has 5 holes in it to engage the next pinion. Does the recess on this 1st gear pinion face inwards to the 'box or outwards towards the outer cover? I have at the moment facing inwards. Any help, as always very much appreciated. Paul J

Re: Burman gearbox B52
the recess should aim towards the pins sticking out from the sliding dog gear I think.

Thanks Clive, that's how it is. It just sounds as though the dogs are not connecting with the holes. Oh well, I've just ordered some new springs for the clutch, don't think that'll be it but I nneed a full set of new springs anyway.
