Alternator primary chain

Post by mikeydpippin »

On my 1958 Matchless G3 the chain tension on the Primary alternator clutch is 3/4” and I can't make out in the manual if it's meant to be 3/4” or 3/8”.
Cant open the Matchless Clueless manuals any more so struggling to get info.
Anyone help please!!!

If you zoom in on the text on page 54 of the 1960 Owners Manual

http://archives.jampot.dk/book/Owners_m ... models.pdf

(which I'd guess is the same as for your '58 as far as chain adjustment is concerned) it clearly reads 3/8" whip.
