How do you paint a barrel?

Rattle can of black smoothrite ( 3 or 4 coats) worked a treat on my 350. 5k miles now and still fine. Would silver be as good? Who knows...

Thanks, Ron. Good to know that Hammerite spray is an option.

Have you considered powder coating .I've had excellent results although in black.

Thanks for all the tips. Simoniz Engine Enamel seems to have done the trick. Cleaned the barrel up with caustic soda, had it resleeved then painted it up and cured it in the oven at 220C. It's now suitably shiny and silvery. 8-)

PS: the wife was apparently unimpressed with the curing part, but hey-ho...
