Mickydip, ascertain exactly where the bike was originally registered and find out if any of the records still exist, Kent hold some, not much good to you , I was once asked to research some Kent AMC registrations for a chap on this forum but who was well away from this area, if the records are still extant them maybe a local member may do the same for you, if you can get a certified extract from these records DVLA may reallocate the original number. kind regards

Mike. Give the Stoke Archives office (tel: 01785 278373) a call to see if they have them or can advise you where they may be. You won't get far if you just turn up out of the blue.

Thanks Nev, will do, Just to end this thread.
The bike is a 1963 Matchless G80 500cc with a reg of 309 VT if no luck obtaining any documents, the replacement age related plate could be an A reg.

Thanks again Richard,
Brick wall time, i,ve contacted kithead trust, Stoke archives, and DVLA,
No luck, so will be an age related after all.
Will start to rebuild and will probably look for age related.
Shame really, always nice to put back to 100% original....
