thread size of front brake cable adjuster

Post by Invicta »

Hi can anyone tell me what the thread is on the left hand fork slider where the front brake cable adjuster screws in. 5/16" BSF it is not. Though it is 5/16" is it BSC ?

Guess you need to know to clean this thread up???? If it is parts to fit, the club will sell a cable that will fit or just the adjuster knurled lock nut. No thread types stated for these parts. I would have thought BSF ( Amal use BSF for cable adjusters also BA. Perhaps control cable were the same?? )

It's 5/16 BSC I believe, check tpi - 22 tpi for BSF, 26 for BSC. Andy

Looks like all Amal BSF are 1/4" which I believe is 26TPI same as 1/4" BSC.

Thanks Andy, that is what I thought. I will get a 5/16" BSC tap to clean it out when the slider comes back from powder coating.
