Shortening Speedometer Cable

Post by spookefoote1956 »

Hello again. I have a repro Smiths speedo clock with the old type / larger thread and the cable I have bought for it needs reducing in length by 8". There is a video on flutube demonstrating the process but I was wondering if anyone else has actually performed this operation?

Cheers, Chris

I haven't shortened an outer but I have a proper speedo cable squaring tool for the inner. You're welcome to borrow it, I can bring it to the next NW clubnight if you like. I've used it to make a trip cable for my MT350, worked a treat!
Dave.
