Help Identifying an AJS
Hi
Trying to provide more info on the AJS in the photo. Checking the registration with DVLA indicates it is no longer active.
I know the year can be narrowed down by such things as jampots, oil tank, half width hub, teles etc. but I lack that in depth knowledge.
I'm hoping the Illuminati here can give me model and year off the top of their heads
Any thoughts on what appears to be front and rear numbers and the flag which looks like it's attached to the front mudguard stay?
Regards Mick

Thanks Rob
Just got that far back in the sales brochures and it does match - is it possible to identify the capacity in any way?
Regards Mick

Agree on date. Capacity probably 500 given closeness of barrel to magneto. If you could ask the bloke to move his leg we could be sure.

I'd be inclined to agree Clive, looking at the barrel and the size of the exhaust pipe. If push came to shove I'd say 500cc 18S everytime.

Thanks All
I'm having a close look at the 53 sales brochure which depicts the tank badge as a transfer or sign written yet the photo seems to have a plastic badge, is 53 about when the plastic badges were introduced?

I think, what looks like a plastic badge is made of metal.Mick D wrote:Thanks All
