1955 gsls rear jampot

I need to check the oil in the suspension leg but am struggling to get the Bottom Pivot (016351) unscrewed, is it usual to have to apply heat to these parts to separate them, this is my first time doing this?

They are usually very tight. You need to make a decent clamp like the one in the article in a big vice, and yes you'll probably need heat. I use a large flat bar (actually a huge tyre lever) to undo it.

Depending on how long they've been together and what was used when they were screwed together, the threads can pick up and tear out!! Lots of heat and dipping in diesel helps. Some come apart easy others can be a complete bitch!!

I know this will sound patronising but here goes...........................................

don't try putting a flat bar in the gap in the clevis (the place where the bottom and top mountings fit) and using force. It will probably snap the clevis.
