Ajs 350 16m 1948 fuel tap thread

Hi folks,
Does anyone know what thread the fuel taps are where they screw into the tank.
Both the main and reserve on mine are leaking and the hexagon shaped knob on the reserve has fallen off. I'm considering going down the gas valve route for now, has anyone had any success with this?

most early one are 1/8 fittings as shown , modern one shown in link . i dont recomment gas taper fittings are they usually leak

I have had a gas tap on one of my bikes (normal not reserve) for 30 years, never leaked, occasionally needs a squirt of oil as it can get a bit stiff.
