Jampot reassembly - fitting the spring...

Post by Chazzyb »

Team, what's the preferred technique for compressing the spring on a Jampot enough to be able to get the screw-on spring retaining collar on? I must have done this years ago, as I have replaced the springs, but I've forgotten what I did or how much swearing was involved? :headbang:

What do you do? :?:

TIA.

I also have an article (pdf) but don't know where I got it from or how to upload it.

I've done tis once (mine are circlip type) a long time ago and plan to redo during the winter. I didn't have access to this advice and recall using a vice, strong rope, body weight and lots of swearing.

I think with the advice it's be easier but still lots of swearing.

Hmmm, food for thought - thanks. I have a Workmate, I even have a pair of hand-me-down sash cramps. Off to the garage again...

I'll report back.

Workmate and ratchet strap. Made it really, really easy. Thanks for the pointers.
