heavyweight single back brake plate

Post by Tomlanc »

Hello all , I've just become the proud owner of a tired but fairly complete G3LS (56) . On staring to dismantle it I've taken the back brake apart to check , the boss on the brake plate that the operating cam runs through seems really loose to the plate . I'm assuming that somethings amiss but being new to this marque I could be wrong. Has anyone come across similar or can confirm this needs fixing thanks in anticipation

As far as I remember, the boss is swaged in, you could try pressing it with a suitable tool to tighten it up.

This will need fixing as the brake either won't work or, worse, could lock. As Rob C says, it is a press/swage fit and while I suppose you could braze it, I bought a good one not that long ago for a tenner so I wouldn't chance a repair myself. Andy
