Where does this square headed bolt belong.

Post by Invicta »

From the box of bits with my basket case 1949 model 18 there is a square headed 3/8" bolt with a 0.440" square head it is just over 2 1/8" long with a hole and a split pin in the threaded end. The thread extends 0.9" of the bolt the rest of the diameter being plain. It was in the box with the engine plates,(not that that may mean a lot in this case) I have looked through the parts book but can not see anything that matches it. Any ideas anyone?
Thank you David.

Sounds like the bolt that goes through rear subframe and connects with the slot in the rear brake plate to act as the brake anchor. The slot should allow you to adjust the rear chain without removing the bolt. Split pin through the hole (after fitting a nut) makes sure it does not come free. In your parts list it appears under the wheels and brake section part no 37-8-B7.
