Swinging Arm Reassembly
I'm just in the process of reassembling the swinging arm on my 1958 G11CS, after having the frame and arm powder coated. I've scraped the powder coat off the SA bushes where they bear on the frame casting, but I'm wondering if I also need to scrape the paint off the ends of the casting so there is metal to metal (bronze to iron) contact, rather than metal (bronze) to paint. I didn't notice whether or not the ends were painted before I took it to be done. It's quite difficult to get off, and I'll do it if necessary, but if it's not, I can save myself some work; although my instinct is telling me I should do it. Can anybody please advise?

Hi
If you've managed to fit it without scraping the paint off of the cast lug leave it as it is - there's no easy way of adjusting the end play on these swinging arms.
Regards Mick

Yes, it fits ok and rotates quite freely with no detectable end float. If I take the paint off, I imagine it could create undesirable slackness.
