Seat identification

Post by uktom77 »

Asking for a friend, well someone on another site. Can anyone identify/recognise this seat as being anything specific (I've not seen one like it before) and if so who made it, what it's called so that they can search for one. Or is it a home special?

given the oil tank (which is really rather neat) it seems most likely its home made.

I thought the oil tank was a converted tool box.

Looks like the wrong frame for the RR as only made in 1957?

About 50 made in '57 and 7 in '59. It was a factory built bitsa for flattrack racing in USA. Front frame was a '54, rigid rear, '56 Burman box, shortstroke engine. Oiltank was made from a rigid oiltank. No front brake of course!

Did not know about this factory special, they must have had a lot of rigid toolboxes they needed to shift! The Quizmaster would have liked this one for the quiz, will have to track one down to photo for him. ;)

Something not right Dave as the angle of the front leg looks wrong for 1954 ;)
