Cylinder head gaskets 650CSR

Post by Suffolk »

After purchasing a new gasket set for my Matchless 650CSR, i have tried to fit new copper cylinder gaskets which seem to be to small and will not fit over the cylinder. I then tried to fit the new composite gaskets and guess what ! They don't fit either, yet there is a thin paper gasket that does fit, so what's the answered to what I do please

It could be that you've been sent '59 gaskets which have 76mm spigot hole. '60 on is 77.34mm.

Then there is 63 on with 3/8 stud holes.

According Steven Surbey, there are not copper gaskets for post 63 650. But I think it is not too difficult to ream the holes from 5/16° to 3/8°. Regarding the composite gaskets, they are not matching with the pushrods tunnels, since years ! If you don't ream them, the pushrods are rubbing against the gasket. Nothing is perfect...
