Chaincase Powder Coating?

I had planned to get the chaincases powder coated on my 1957 G3LS, but having 2nd thoughts about doing the back one due to the sliding cover where the shaft pokes through. The powder coating chappie thought he could take them apart and spot weld them back on but I'm not so sure that's a good idea, but neither is getting them stuck in one position after the PC.

I'm now wondering if to do the back one myself (it's hardly seen anyway isn't it?) with something and let him just do the front one.

Any experiences of this sort of thing?

Powder coat on two surfaces will increase the thickness by over 0.5mm so the plates will have to be modified to allow them to fit anyhow. Drill out the spot welds and remove the plates - refit after powder coating using appropriate spacers welded in.
