Exhaust pipes and silencer

Post by uas526 »

Evening. Does anyone have any recommendations for sellers of zoorst pipe and silencer? The Feked ones look pretty good. It's for a 1953 M18/G80 (rigid). I see from the spares list that rigid and 'S' are the same. Many thanks.

I posted just that question in a facebook group a while ago and seemed like the majority favoured Armours.

The silencer for rigid and swinging arm versions are different in shape and mounting points - see the following from Feked ...
https://www.feked.com/exhausts/ajs-matchless/silencers/

Armours will be similar ...

I bought a high level exhaust pipe & silencer plus a leg guard for my Silver Streak from Armours recently. The chrome plating is A1 & they are a little cheaper than Feked.

I bought a CS exhaust and silencer from Armours and it fitted straight on. I was dreading fitting it as they are notoriously difficult to fit over the comp footrest but it was perfect. I would ring them though to check the item is available. They have been known in the past to take your moneyand after waiting weeks for it's arrival they tell you they're going to make some...soon. If you ring first there's no misunderstanding. I think I bought my first system from them in 1977.

Hello All, many thanks for your replies and recommendations. I've just looked through the Armours listing and can't find a model that states alloy, rigid, and includes the year 54.

Feked have a few for rigids, with alloy head, but the wrong years :headbang:

"AJS/Matchless Exhaust Pipe 18, G80 Alloy Head, 500cc 1949-52 - OEM: 018139"

Or this one, but it's 55 on:

"AJS/Matchless Exhaust Pipe 18S, G80S, G80, 18 - 500cc 1955 on"

And, this one, but in the detail says for comp machines :headbang:

AJS/Matchless Exhaust Pipe Rigid - Alloy Head 500cc 1950-54

In the AJS 1954 Spares List it gives 018139 for 18 and 18S for the pipe, and 014576 for 18 and 18s for silencer. These numbers are available from Feked, as:

AJS/Matchless Exhaust Silencer 18, G80 Alloy Head, 500cc 1949-52 [OEM: 014576]
AJS/Matchless Exhaust Pipe 18, G80 Alloy Head, 500cc 1949-52 [OEM: 018139]

Nothing seems to match up. :headbang:
