1956 Matchless 350

Post by Ezmerelda1 »

Hi. I've just fit a new clutch cable which is the correct one but I think it needs the Clutch plate adjustment screw adjusting on the opposite side. I can't get the but to slacken off to adjust the screw. Any ideas please?

You should have lots of play on the clutch cable first. I'm presuming it's a Burman clutch (56). Then unscrew the locknut on the clutch pressure plate which is sparkplug spanner size. Screw in the adjuster until it just touches the pushrod, then out 1/2 a turn. Hold with screwdriver while tightening locknut. then adjust the cable to give just a little play.
PS where in Lancs are you?
Dave.
