wd front wheel

Post by clive »

The front tyre on my bike is from a wd machine with small 6 inch front brake. It is fitted with the matching fork legs and I put in new stanchions a while ago. Although it all appears straight when viewed from in front the front tyre is obviously about 1/2 inch off centre compared to the front downtube. Also even with the brake plate pulled over tight to the fork there is much more space between tyre and forkleg on one side than the other. Although it handles well enough for a rigid (for which read interesting on bumpy cormers anyway) the tyre wears more on one side (is it all the roundabouts in London, i think not?) My only conclusion is that the wheel has been rebuilt at some stage with the rim in the wrong line. (It spins nice and true) Can anyone tell me if there was an offset or if the rim should just be equidistant between the two spindles. I wouldn't mind but it seems to be wearing the tyres out much faster than normal. Any ideas please. Clive

Does this account for the puncture at every rally?
