Recent technological advances made by an ophthalmic team in Sweden now allows the production of prescription visors for motorcycle helmets.
In the past riders only had the choice of using their regular spectacles or using prescription goggles. With todays modern helmet design, goggles look out of place and so the Swedish team set about finding a solution. They have been able to utilise new manufacturing processes (initially developed when building the Hubble Space telescope) to produce clear visors to your individual optical requirements.
Dr. Beenhaard, chief designer in the development team, says that they hope to be able to produce tinted visors and vari-focus lenses by this time next year.
Each visor is carefully prepared to your prescription requirements and sent to you in secure packaging to prevent any damage. The cost depends upon your individual prescription, but averages around £120. Dr. Beenhaard says this figure may drop as volume production increases.
Recognising that a number of our members rely on optical correction, we have negotiated a discount of 5% for all orders placed in the next month starting 1st April.
