I have the fixed section of the battery carrier, but the hinged part is missing, and I can't remember what it should look like, can someone help please, it's an easy thing to make - IF you know what it should look like!!!!!

The model 14 uses a rubber strap to retain the battery not a hinged front section.
The clubs spares scheme offers a suitable replacement.

D'you know, I do seem to remember a rubber strap with a metal bar in one end and a square metal loop in the other, is that correct?

Trouble is I've had several old ajay's and matchy's over the last 50 years and I'm easily confused!!!!
When I've got this one fully restored, I'll get a strap, as it doesn't have to be painted!
