G2 frame and pillion footrest supports

Post by Bernie.Jones »

Can anyone please help with pictures - or a link to a diagram of the frame - that shows the pillion footrest support arrangement for a 1961 G2?

On my bike it looks like the R.H. side has an extension to the frame that supports the muffler and I'm guessing also the footpeg but that's all missing.
On the L.H. side there's nothing but there are two holes in a frame plate that look as if they might be to take a bolt-on arm that runs back to support the footrest....

Many thanks,
Bernie

I'm definitely not one of the Lightweight aficionados but there's an article and various photos of the Lightweight frame which may help, here:
There's a brief reference to rear footrests on page 12.

Hi Bernie

I don't know lightweights either, but there are some pictures and replies in http://www.jampot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=23818 that might be of some use?

I do not think the links are for pillion footrests. I have come across two types, I believe come as a LH & RH pair. Hangers and the actually rest pegs. I had allsorts among a huge amount of bits. Bit of a puzzle sorting out which were correct for my bikes. On 63 type I had a Jawa side stand instead of the peg. The stand complete with spring etc. bolts strait on no fiddling at all. Perhaps someone can come up with pictures. Bit awkward to get to my bikes.

As well as frame photos in my linked article there is on page 12 a brief mention of rear footrests:
(but what do I know?).

Many thanks for your replies - the frame pics are very useful - here's what I have which looks right as far as it goes.
I suspect I'm missing the left hand arm and various spacers on the brake spindle assembly.

Best I can do with photos of lightweight pillion footrests, but not sure if 250 or 350
