Fuel Tank lugs
Can anyone tell me what these lugs are for at the front of the tanks tunnel?

Re: Fuel Tank lugs
Looking at the parts list, could they be for the rubber grips that are listed.

Rob I think the grips that the parts list is referring too are the knee grips at the sides of the tank to the rear and not at the front of the tunnel.

Yes Martin, there are no more grips mentioned, so they must be Knee grips. I do have a 60's twin that has a rubber band at the back. I only have 58 G2 63 & 66 CSR lightweights. I will check my bikes in the morning to see what they have.Martin.S wrote:Rob I think the grips that the parts list is referring too are the knee grips at the sides of the tank to the rear and not at the front of the tunnel.

On the twins the tags were used to fit the chrome strips separating the two colours on a two tone tank. Theory has it the tanks were possibly hung from the tangs for painting purposes.

I cannot see or feel anything on my fitted tanks. The bracket is in a position where a hanging device could have been fitted for spraying. Although using the front two threaded bolt holes would have been another option from which to hang a tank. Not sure if AMC ever used electro static spraying. We did spraying TV cabinets, as it used only about 1/3rd of the amount of lacquer a spray gun used.
