Should there be a shim(s) on the swinging arm ??- with the forks pushed against the mounting frame the cotter pin is a mile away from lining up- see pix attached

A felt seals fits round the rim of the bushes to keep the oil in.

It's not meant to be flush with the frame - the bushes are top-hat shaped.
[edit] Just seen dodger's post which shows what it's meant to be like. Mine doesn't have the felt rings, but the oil doesn't drip much.

This is a 250 frame which was used by the PO on my 350 Model 8!

Thanks guys- The bushes in mine- as you can see from the original pix is a simple plain bush- so I suppose I need to source the proper ones- any thoughts on availability ?

Sourced some from Brit Bikes Only in Austria- ... https://www.vintage-motorcycle.com/en .......not cheap and postage is horrendous...but when needs must
I'm still confused as to why the originals weren't fitted...surely the swinging arm must have been moving sideways ?- mind you as far I I know the bike hasn't been on the road since 1967....
