Transfers
I now have 2 repainted black side panels for my 1965 14CSR, i was thinking waterslide transfers for the panels but there seems to be more (and a wider selection) of vinyl cut transfers. Anyone have any views on which is best?

Re: Transfers
Hi
Waterslide transfers were used originally and replacements offer the closest approach when restoring, however they will need to be sealed after application. When I re-paint the bodywork I apply the transfers and then a layer of clearcoat to the whole bodywork. You can apply a coat of varnish selectively but you won't get a mirror level surface. (Always do a trial of your sealer for compatibility with the transfer and the colour coat )
Vinyl 'transfers' are easier to apply and will stand use without additional protection, they can also be removed fairly easily and replaced if damaged.
If you wish to seal them they are considerably thicker than waterslide and will require several coats of sealer and subsequent flatting to acheive a mirror surface.
Regards Mick
